7th Grade Writing – take one class or whole semester
This course meets twice per week for 7th Grade Writing, National Standards – Based instruction. Sept 21 – Dec 14. Students can enroll for the entire semester OR take a single class any Monday.
The first day of the week meets on Mondays at 1:00 PM EST. Our teachers provide direct modeled instruction, guided practice, and independent practice of the new standard. After the live class is over, students will have independent work options: writing, lesson review, and practice to support all types of learners.
The second day of the week is a follow-up to previous standards. Students will be scheduled in 30 minute increments between the hours of 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM based on their small group need. Some students will meet with their teacher for reteach and remediation, while others will meet for enrichment.
Teachers will be assigned a week prior to the beginning of class.
The 7th Grade Writer’s Workshop focuses on strategies for writing a memoir. They analyze mood, tone and audience. They use dialogue and sensory language to capture their audience. Students will write several drafts, but will choose one to work on developing, revising, editing, and publishing a finished piece.
(Semester 2 will focus on conducting research and effectively communicating a published Informational Essay and Argumentative Writing.)
