Math With Amy is offering interactive, live, virtual math classes for the 2020-21 school year. Each student will receive a Student Kit with all the printed materials (notes, homework, reviews, and extra credit) needed for the year. Through Zoom, students work with their peers in small groups, solving problems and discussing solutions. Amy hosts optional study sessions on different days of the week for students who need help outside of class.
Advanced Statistics is a high-school level class that focuses on the presentation, manipulation and analysis of data. Topics covered include (but not limited to): Data Collection/Summaries, Graphing, Distributions, Inference, Modeling, and Regression.
This class is designed for high-school students who are looking for an alternative to algebra-based math. Students will learn to process data, think analytically and explain their conclusions. Spreadsheets will be heavily emphasized; students should have an adequate device (laptop or tablet). Equipment can be provided on loan for the semester.
Textbook: Advanced High School Statistics from OpenIntro. Homework is 2 to 3 hours per week. Honors projects assigned each semester require additional time outside class.
