AP Environmental Science – Advanced Placement Science Course
Meets on Wednesdays, from Aug 26 – May 12
2:30 pm – 4:00 pm (Central); 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm (Eastern)
Taylor Made Science is offering interactive, live, virtual science classes for the 2020-21 school year. These are not your ordinary online science classes! Each student will receive a lab kit with the supplies needed to complete the experiments and hands-on activities typically done in an in-person class. Through Zoom, students will be able to work with their lab group each week as they collect and analyze lab data in the safety of their own home. No need to wear a mask or stay 6 feet apart in the classroom, and no worries about handling shared laboratory equipment!
AP Environmental Science is designed to prepare students to take the AP Exam for college credit. A complete description of the course and the test can be found at https://apstudents.collegeboard.org/courses/ap-environmental-science?envsci=. As with any AP course, students will be expected to devote a considerable amount of time outside of class studying the material. This will be especially important since we will only be meeting once a week. Our online class time will be spent engaged in hands-on experiments and going over the material students found difficult in their home studies. Note: some universities require proof of laboratory work before they will award lab credit for AP examinations. AP Environmental students will build a formal lab notebook to serve as documentation of their lab experiences. Students will spend time outside of class doing pre-lab work and formal lab write-ups. This course is recommended as a fourth-year advanced science credit. APES students must be at least 15 years old and have successfully completed a high school level Biology and Chemistry course. Tuition includes a take-home lab materials kit. All curriculum and study materials are also provided at no extra cost.
