Earth Science Fall 2021 Session: For The Love of Sea Turtles

Students will learn about sea turtle biology, nesting behaviors and track patterns, tagging and conservation efforts, threats & predators, and sea turtle rehabilitation and veterinary science. We’ll role-play as biologists in the field and sea turtle hospital doctors. We will engage in a variety of skills including teamwork, deductive reasoning, observation, and simple math and science to support our understanding of our subjects. This is a highly hands-on set of classes with lots of simulated scenarios and mock rescues!

Price: $65 “Early bird” registration special through 8/6 only for the session of 4 classes. After August 6th, registration is $70 for the session. Registration includes all materials, and enrolled students will also receive an emailed list of supplemental reference materials. Add the additional Intro. to Turtles, Terrapins, & Tortoises workshop for a discounted rate of $10. Drop-in spaces will not be available for this session. Bonus- A portion of class fees will be donated to support sea turtle conservation in the US!

Our instructor for this course is certified in environmental education, CPR & first aid, Ocean Sustainability and Conservation, and Zoonoses for wildlife rehabilitation. She also volunteers part time in the summer months as a loggerhead sea turtle research and conservation assistant.
