Earth & Space Science – Middle School Science Class
Meets on Mondays, from Aug 24 – May 10
11:00 am – 12:30 pm (Central); 12:00 noon – 1:30 pm (Eastern)
Taylor Made Science is offering interactive, live, virtual science classes for the 2020-21 school year. These are not your ordinary online science classes! Each student will receive a lab kit with the supplies needed to complete the experiments and hands-on activities typically done in an in-person class. Through Zoom, students will be able to work with their lab group each week as they collect and analyze lab data in the safety of their own home. No need to wear a mask or stay 6 feet apart in the classroom, and no worries about handling shared laboratory equipment!
Earth & Space Science is an honors level middle school science course that provides an overview of the main fields of geology, plus an introduction to astronomy. Topics covered will include: rocks and minerals, weathering, erosion, and soil, plate tectonics, volcanoes and earthquakes, Earth’s history, ground and surface water, weather, oceans, and a look at how Earth fits into the universe. The course will be extremely “hands-on” with a heavy emphasis on developing the science lab and process skills needed for success in high school level science courses. Earth & Space students must be at least 12 years old and going into 7th grade at the start of the school year. Tuition includes a take-home lab materials kit.
