This is a middle to high school aged class offered online through Outschool! In this course, students will study the complicated & diverse history of the United States through the lens of people left out of the narrative in traditional history texts by using The Young People’s History series.
Each week we will view the events of history from different experiences – Native American, Africans, Women, Immigrants, and Children are a few that will be explored. How did they see the events that changed the land and country? What were their experiences with the government, culture, and developments? With this unique experience of utilizing the specific texts for young people, the history of the United States will be weaved together to create a vivid and diverse picture of the tapestry of the people.
