Honors Physics – College-Prep High School Science Course
Meets on Wednesdays, from Aug 26 – May 12
11:00 am – 12:30 pm (Central); 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm (Eastern)
Taylor Made Science is offering interactive, live, virtual science classes for the 2020-21 school year. These are not your ordinary online science classes! Each student will receive a lab kit with the supplies needed to complete the experiments and hands-on activities typically done in an in-person class. Through Zoom, students will be able to work with their lab group each week as they collect and analyze lab data in the safety of their own home. No need to wear a mask or stay 6 feet apart in the classroom, and no worries about handling shared laboratory equipment!
Honors Physics explains the laws that govern our physical surroundings. The course is Algebra-based and there will be a heavy math component. Through this course, students will become comfortable using Physics formulas and will also develop a deep understanding of the “how” and “why” these formulas work. The textbook used for the class is conceptual as students will be required to cover the “concepts” for homework outside of class. The math component of the course will be added during class time. The course is “hands-on” with a strong lab component. Physics students must be at least 15 years old, be going into 10th grade, and have successfully completed Algebra I at the start of the school year. Successful completion of Geometry is recommended, but not required. Tuition includes a take-home lab materials kit.
