Kindergarten Writing (for non-readers) – take one class or whole semester
This course meets twice per week for Kindergarten Grade Writing, National Standards – Based instruction. Sept 21 – Dec 14. Students can enroll for the entire semester OR take a single class any Monday.
The first day of the week meets on Mondays at 12:00 PM EST. Our teachers provide direct modeled instruction, guided practice, and independent practice of the new standard. After the live class is over, students will have independent work options: writing or drawing, lesson review, flashcards, and practice to support all types of learners.
The second day of the week is a follow-up to previous standards. Students will be scheduled in 30 minute increments between the hours of 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM based on their small group need. Some students will meet with their teacher for reteach and remediation, while others will meet for enrichment.
Teachers will be assigned a week prior to the beginning of class.
Semester 1 Kindergarten writer’s workshop is developed for non-readers. Writers learn how to tell stories. They learn sequencing, sketching, labeling, adding to previously written stories, and begin to use the ABC chart to find and write letters for their stories.
(Semester 2 students will learn and create a pattern book and “small moment” stories.)
