A unique, online community for young people learning to play dulcimer (mountain or hammered). This is a place for kids to meet each other, share what they are learning on their instrument, and receive mentorship from other musicians.
The Youth Dulcimer Club is led by Erin Mae — a homeschool graduate with an Associates Degree in folk music from South Plains College. She began playing mountain dulcimer when she was 7, was the National Mountain Dulcimer Champion at age 17, and now loves teaching young homeschool students to play the instrument too.
Kids of all ages are welcome — they should have at least one lesson (from any teacher) prior to joining the Youth Dulcimer Club.
Parents are expected to be involved in the community and supervise their child(ren)’s participation.
Adults who would like to help young people learn to play dulcimers are invited to apply to be a volunteer. There are also opportunities for financial sponsorship.
