About Texas Memorial Museum
Texas Memorial Museum works to create awareness, understanding and appreciation of the past, present and future of biological diversity, especially that of the state of Texas. Our mission is to inspire a life-long interest in science and nature.
Texas Memorial Museum (TMM) is located on the campus of The University of Texas at Austin. We are temporarily closed as we prepare the museum for a safe reopening. An audio tour is available via mobile phone or via podcasts that can be downloaded from the museum’s website. Scavenger hunts, curriculum guides, and other exhibit-related activities are also available on TMM's website.
Permanent exhibits include fossils and prehistoric life; gems, minerals and meteorites; and native Texas wildlife. Spotlighted in the museum are spectacular specimens found in Texas, including dinosaurs, Ice Age mammals, the Texas Pterosaur, and the Onion Creek Mosasaur.
